DHI's Centre for Environment and Toxicology works extensively with feed, food, plant protection products, and biocides. Our work focuses on toxicological risk assessment and on efficacy studies of these products.
For feed additives we provide support for documentation of the additives’ safety, including evaluation of the toxicological study package, and documentation of their efficacy, such as better nutrition and gut health. We also conduct eco-toxicological studies in our own laboratories. Our feed additives consultancy is primarily per EU feed legislation.
The output of our work on feed additives is:
-
compilation of dossiers, or applications, for approval
-
updating of previously submitted dossiers
-
compilation of expert reports on selected aspects of an additives and eco-toxicological study reports
We have carried this out for zootechnical, nutritional and sensory feed additives.
Examples of our work on feed additives:
-
de novo compilation of dossiers on lactic acid bacteria as feed additives,
-
re-evaluation and updating of dossiers on enzymes as feed additives, and
-
expert reporting on safety and efficacy of enzyme feed additives.
